Steam’s Top Grossing Titles of 2016

Steam are celebrating the new year by paying tribute to their best sellers of 2016. The full list of 100 top selling games of 2016 includes games both old and new and, while Early Access titles and free to play games may not seem like they belong on a list of top-grossing games, Valve’s own Dota 2 managed to make the highest grade (Platinum) in Steam’s top grossing games of 2016 so it is clear that it is not only the new, expensive titles that made their fair share of cash this past year.

Joining Dota 2 in the Platinum Category is the multi-award winning RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as well as the brutal and unforgiving third entry into the Dark Souls franchise, and winner of the Steam Love/Hate Relationship award, Dark Souls 3. Also included is the now infamous No Man’s Sky who, despite having sold 81,024 copies on Steam alone, has garnered itself a Mostly Negative reception thanks to unfulfilled promises on the part of Hello Games (check out Telkom Gaming’s review here).

Other titles in the Platinum category include:

  • Total War: Warhammer
  • Rocket League
  • XCOM 2
  • Fallout 4
  • Civilization VI
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Tom Clancy’s The Division
  • CS: GO

  • H1Z1 King of the Hill
  • ARMA 3
  • Stellaris
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
