This week was a big one for Star Wars fans who are still reeling from the amount of information and cool stuff there was to take in, such as the first trailer for eighth movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Also included during the fan expo held in Florida however was the reveal of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, which looks like it is a big step forward for the franchise as a whole. In case you missed it, here is the full reveal trailer:
In possibly the biggest news surrounding the game is the fact that the much-hated Season Pass is finally being ditched, which was revealed shortly after the trailer’s launch in a Mashable article.
“We decided on that, and it’s one of those difficult decisions because it has so many implications all around,” said Bernd Diemer, creative director of Battlefront 2.
“When we looked at the way Battlefront had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, ‘You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing’. We need to [take it apart] and come up with something better.”
On top of that, we have now also learned about the Deluxe Edition content and pre-order bonuses for those that decide to get in early. Pre-ordering will get you Last Jedi-themed looks for both Kyle Ren and Rey, as well as “ability modifiers” for each, as well as an “ability modifier” for the Millennium Falcon and an unnamed First Order hero ship.
If you buy the “Elite Trooper deluxe edition” ($80) will get you three days early access to the game, as well as upgrade packs for the four classes:
- Elite Officerupgrade pack – The Blurrg-1120 blaster plus enhanced grip modification and the Battle Command epic ability.
- Heavy Metalupgrade pack – The FWMB-10 “Megablaster” and barrel vent modification and the Personal Shield epic ability.
- Armored Assaultupgrade pack – The CR-2 (with a trigger modification) and the Grenade epic ability.
- Master Specialistupgrade ability – The A280-CFE blaster rifle and scope modification and the Laser Trip Mine epic ability.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is slated for release on 17 Novembeforon PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
