Star Wars 40 Year Celebration Kicks off Today

This weekend is a very exciting one for Star Wars fans around the world as we celebrate the 40th year of the franchise’s existence this weekend vicariously through the Star Wars Celebration, which is taking place in Florida from 13-16 May.

Expected this weekend is another flurry of Star Wars news, including some potential insights into new movies, games and other Stars Wars franchises.

Probably the most anticipated of all this is the expectation for a trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is having its own special conference on Friday, 14 April.

We have already seen the leaked trailer for Battlefront 2, but there should hopefully be some more news about the game and what exactly it’s going to entail as well.

There are other highlights  include a sneak peak at Rebels Season 4, the hit animated Star Wars spin-off, and as usual, an all-star cast lined up for the weekend including Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogy, Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker and plenty of other incredible guests.

Unfortunately for us here in South Africa, the times are less than amicable, as they are six hours behind us, but event is set to take place as of 5pm local time, and can be watched via the stream below:

For all the events and the full schedule for the weekend, make sure to head over to the Star Wars Celebration website.

What are you most looking forward to hearing about this weekend at the Star Wars Celebration? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
