One Down, Two Left Standing in the Dota 2 Community Shield

Things are beginning to heat up in the DGL Dota 2 Community Shield as we begin to reach the final stages of the competition with teams fighting for just two spots at the Masters Cup, set to take place between 29 June and 2 July.

The double elimination bracket currently sees Veneration Dota 2 and Mythic Gaming sitting in the upper bracket finals thanks to successful runs in the previous rounds. This means that one of those two teams will be guaranteed a spot at the Master’s Cup, depending on the outcome of the match (since both finalists go through).

The lower bracket is where things get tense as one Master’s side, Ventus Gaming, has already lost out on its spot at the Master’s Cup, as both the Master’s squad and brother side Ventus Red have been eliminated by Damage Control and Sin5.All Stars respectively.

Damage Control‘s next round will also be a tough match-up to get past as the Pulse.Reborn side has gone from strength to strength so far this year and may prove to be a tough nut to crack.

Aperture Gaming’s brother side is definitely the favoured team to win in their matchup against Sin5.All Stars but, no matter the outcome, I fear both teams will fall short to whoever comes down from the lower bracket final, so it will be interesting to see if teams can manage some upsets.

Either way, the way things are shaping up, it looks like we may see many Master’s sides actually making it through the Community Shield Cup. The question that remains is, who else will fall?
