Microsoft has decided to make its previously exclusive Xbox Preview Program free for everyone, and given it a name change to the Xbox Insider Program to go with the new look.
As mentioned, previously you would needed an invite to get involved but, as of today, all you need to do is opt-in to the Xbox Insider Program to get early access to games and apps coming to the Xbox One.
There are a few caveats however in that Xbox system updates will still only be rolled out to a limited number of people, and will not be open to new members joining the Xbox Insider Program. This, according to Microsoft, is because it already has a large number of helpful users providing feedback in this regard.
The Xbox Insider Hub will be the central place where you will be able to access all the new features as well as find announcements, quests and opportunities to get early access to apps and games. There is a new interface to boot inspired by the new Xbox One Experience.
Microsoft has said that the rollout is starting small, with a number of preview members who have provided the most feedback, but will expand to all existing Xbox Preview members of the course of the next few weeks.
