Is Detroit: Become Human A Forgotten Gem or a Lost Cause

Quantic Dream is bringing us another PlayStation 4 exclusive Detroit: Become Human that continues the studio’s foray into high-depth, thrilling drama games, as expected of David Cage, CEO and Founder. We can expect similar tales and quality like their other popular titles Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls but, it’s been over a year since we heard anything so has the title been forgotten?

Travel to the near-future metropolis of Detroit – a city rejuvenated by an exciting technological development: androids. Witness your brave new world turn to chaos as you take on the role of Kara, a female android trying to find her own place in a turbulent social landscape.

This story gives me the chills of Ghost in a Shell as the game features a counter-cyberterrorist organization set in the future of humanity. This title seems to revolve around questioning what it is to be human, all the while playing as an Android – an exciting but terrifying look into perhaps what our own future may hold as technology continues to progress in leaps and bounds.

One of the key features is the unique storylines set before you: the choices you make will further impact your story and will ultimately determine your fate, may it be saving both the killer and the kid, or causing them both to plummet to their death.

The game has been in development before 2015, and has been on the hype train ever since, abiet it somewhat forgotten in the shadow of Horizon Zero Dawn, another cyber-fueled creation.

Hopefully we can see the thrilling narrative story take light sometime soon, since PlayStation 4 Pro is already making its rounds for South Africa. While we thought it was coming out sometime this year, Quantic Dream have confirmed that was a mistake in one of their announcements but have failed to confirm a new launch date.

Are you still hyped for Detroit: Become Human? Having been in development for so long, do you feel Detroit: Become Human will fall into the trap of being an outdated or over-hyped title on its release, similar to The Last Guardian?

There are no big hype train for this yet and It is not forgotten and is not in Horizon’s shadow. Sony normally release a game between 2 to 3 years after announcement. Don’t expect the new God of War to be released this year also. Sony have a few games in development from their 1st party development teams. Wait for E3 this year.
