The free-to-play multiplayer mech shooter Hawken is set to make its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox in early July.
Originally developed for console, but making an early debut on Steam in February 2014, developers Reloaded Games have made some adjustments to the shooter that will be added to its console release.
In the Hawken mythos, approximately 60 years from now humanity has pioneered hyperdrive technology allowing for deep space exploration. From there, terraforming and colonising efforts build a network of habitable planets. Eventually, this leads to the discovery of a planet named Illal, which is deemed too risky and expensive to terraform. However, the potential profit prompts a set of multi-planetary corporations (MPCs) to purchase permission to do so privately.
You can find out more lore that was recently posted on the PlayStaion Blog which reveals the story behind the combat.
There are still unanswered questions floating around, but with the success of other titles paving the way, we can only hope this latest addition to the shooter genre will receive cross-platform multiplayer match support in the months to come.
Hawken is slated for release on 1 July 2016 for Xbox One with the PlayStation 4 version coming on 8 July 2016.
