The Awards, which will be held during the 2017 Game Developers Conference at the San Francisco Moscone Center on 1 March 2017, present fourteen different accolades up for grabs including Best Design, Best Audio, Best Narrative, and more. Let’s take a look at some of the games that are currently leading the nomination pack:

Inside

The 2D puzzle-platformer follow-up to Playdead’s critically acclaimed debut project, Limbo, Inside follows the harrowing adventures of an unnamed boy as he attempts to stay alive (no mean feat) whilst traversing a dark, dystopian environment. Looking to follow in Limbo’s shoes, Inside is a finalist in no less than six categories including Best Audio, Best Design, the Innovation Award, Best Narrative, Best Visual Art as well as the much sought after Game of the Year award.

Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment’s highly anticipated new IP really has taken the world by storm, picking up multiple awards since its release just this past May. The title will be looking to add to its trophy case at the GDC Awards with nominations for Best Audio, Best Design, Best Technology, Best Visual Art and Game of the Year categories.

Firewatch

Campo Santo’s super-hyped adventure-exploration title, Firewatch, really set the bar when it came to atmospheric Indie titles this year with the title achieving nominations in the Best Debut, the Innovation Award, Best Narrative, Best Visual Art and Game of the Year categories.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Nathan Drake’s final chapter is the fourth contestant looking to snag the Game of the Year award, also managing to pick up nominations in Best Technology, Best Narrative and Best Visual Art.

Dishonored 2

Wrapping up the Game of the Year award nominations is the sequel to 2012 stealth action-adventure, Dishonored (the title also holds a nomination for Best Design)Check out Telkom Gaming’s Dishonored 2 review here
