DGL Masters CS:GO – The Finale Recap

The dust has settled and it’s time to look at the results from the Telkom DGL Masters 2016 Finale that happened on the 7 – 9 October 2016. Each team has had their own unique journey, some longer than others but here is the recap.

This event was a little different from the previous Cape Town Masters event as this time teams had a little more leeway to work with in a double-elimination best-of-three format.

To kick things off, the first round went off as expected with a few hiccups as Flipsid3 Tactics took down Aperture Gaming 2-1, which was the only close game of the day. Some expected the Flipsid3 squad to take down ApG, others saw it was an upset but to me, it was a bit of both.

Moving onto the semifinals for the winner bracket, we witnessed a tough, drawn out game between Carbon eSports and Bravado Gaming which landed going the full three map distance. After the first two maps the teams were neck-to-neck however eventually their experience with close, drawn out games led the Bravado squad l to closing the gap and edging themselves over the finish line.

The second closest game was the loser bracket final between Damage Control and Carbon where we witnessed some cracks in the Carbon team as they once again were drawn to a third map decider. After finally breaking through DC’s defences, the squad would progress once again to take on Bravado in the final.

Compared to the early stages of the event the finals were somewhat disappointing for the players and fans of Carbon Esports, while the Bravado Gaming fans would rejoice that their team is back on track after their shaky game against the same carbon squad.

Victorious, the Bravado Gaming squad walked away with their trophy and the title of the Telkom DGL Masters CS:GO Champions.
