Bandai Namco, the name behind popular action RPG turned anime God Eater, has officially pulled back the curtain on an all new supernatural-themed action RPG, which has been pencilled in for a 2018 release. This is Code Vein.
In terms of release it is set to arrive “on major home consoles”, which may possibly include the Nintendo Switch as well, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Gameplay-wise we can expect the usual juicy action-RPG goodness, this time set in a post-apocalyptic future, with the main character being a vampiric Revenant who’s able to access supernatural powers after a sip of that tasty red goodness.
There will, of course, be loot, new powers to unlock and the ability to change your form by drinking blood, all spanned across a connected area of a large world. You will be joined by an in-game ally to help you uncover the mysteries within. Take on the role of a citizen of the “Vein”, the name given to the refuge of the vampires, and explore the hidden society of which you’re a part of.
Although there is no official trailer as of yet, they did offer a plethora of screenshots to give a good idea of what to expect, and it seems suitably dark and gory to have peaked our interest for the forseeable future.
