Cloud 9, popular international MGO most well known for its successful CS:GO and League of Legends teams, has announced an all new Dota 2 roster, signifying its return to the competitive Dota 2 scene.
It’s been approximately a year since we last saw a Cloud 9 squad, with the previous incarnation captained by Jackie “EternalEnvy” Mau, now captain of Team NP. The reveal came via Redbull Esports.
“Dota 2 is and will continue be a top esports title for the foreseeable future,” said Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne. “Cloud9 is always looking to participate in the most exciting and relevant esports titles.”
The new Cloud 9 roster comes out of Denmark, and sees some new and old faces in the competitive scene once again making their mark. The new line-up is as follows:
- Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard
- Jon “BabyKnight” Andersen
- Christoffer “Ryze” Borregaard Winther
- Mikki “HeStEJoE-RoTTeN” Mørch Junget
- Danny “NoiA” Mørch Junget
As for the teams’ current goals, it looks like the plan is to focus on improving as a team and trying to figure out the new Dota 2 patch, much like everyone else in the world right now that happens to play Dota 2.
“Our goal right now is to get good at this patch,” said Jon “BabyKnight” Andersen. “We felt very confident last patch, and we’re getting there with this one but it takes time. Eventually our goals for 2017 will be to do our best and attend as many big events as possible. The final goal will always be a good placement at TI.”
The fresh-faced Cloud 9 line-up is a departure from the heavyweight rosters of the past, so it will be interesting to see how the less experienced lineup will fair. You can read the full announcement here.
